Few years down the lane; I'm married, I work hard, I work good. No kids, may be a beautiful dog though. And who knows, a cat too?
It's a good day at work and as I overhear a song being played from somewhere distant I feel this sudden urge to see you and hug you but you are at work and I know pretty much how really hard you work. I don't want to disturb you.
I finish up my work as soon as can and leave to buy you a beautiful dress. Nothing too shiny, nothing that attracts too much attention, nothing that'll make you feel too cold or feel uneasy about stares of the public. I know well enough just how much attention makes you go gaga about yourself. More than the attention, it's the appreciation of your elegance, your class that you simply adore.
I see a dress, kind of dark velvet colour, just as dark as a black plum. It shines just enough in light. It has a little slit left knee onwards and the back is open just enough to make me buy that dress without further adieu. I imagine you in that dress with a pendant we bought together for you. I run by a local florist and buy you some flowers I don't know about yet, but believe me, they're beautiful. They are not roses, nor lilies... they are whatever I could find least distant from doing justice with you holding them. They're lucky to be held by you.
On my way back to home, I call a friend of mine and ask him to get me one of the tables at a restaurant.
"The table has to be right at the centre of the restaurant but distant enough for her not to feel people gazing her, the music should be nothing too romantic, nothing too exotic; I want her to look at me and talk to me, listen to me and not to the music. I want just one waiter to wait for our table ,I don't want people coming to us and singing us a song, or an orchestra on the house trying its best to make our little precious date memorable, nothing like that", I ask my friend a favour.
Back at home, I clean up our room, hang the dress I brought for you in the closet just where I put the bouquet, prepare you a warm bath. I know in what you'd like to change after getting fresh and I know that dress will surprise you. I get my suit straight, call up the driver for the night and get my car cleaned, put on your favourite fragrance in the car and wait for you.
Not after long you ring the doorbell and I open the door. God, I forgot how attractive you look when tired, messy and exhausted. Sometimes I wonder myself how come I find your sweaty and exhausted version so attractive. I guess it's because at that point I know I get to take care of you and you won't get annoyed. You don't hug me, or ask my how I am. I don't bother a bit about that as I'm blown away by you, yet another time.
"I'm drained out. No coffee, no sugar and no nothing can make me move tonight", you tell me. I notice you are so tired that you don't ask if there's any dinner, you don't go and freshen up, you just throw your God-knows-how-large bag and heels before diving into the bed; so tired you are not sure if you should open your eyes. I put the heels at one corner, put a glass of water on the bed table and sneak inside the blanket as I put the AC temperature a little low and lie beside you. As I put my left arm beneath your head, I put your mobile on silent mode. You turn towards me, eyes still closed and get comfortable. Finally the stress on your face has fainted and you look so relaxed, with just a tinch of smile you hold me a tell me how much you love me. I tell you how much I love you. I feel my mobile vibrating, I know it's my friend, or the manager of that hotel where I was supposed to be right now, or it just might be my driver. I don't answer it.
I see you, asleep now and I know I have had my perfect date.
